Contemporary Library Furniture Solutions for Flinders Community College

Flinders Community College, a prominent Christian school for students in kinder to year 12, approached IntraSpace to fitout their new Tyabb campus library with the latest library furniture solutions.

The open-plan layout featured a reading space, traditional classroom arrangement of tables and chairs, reception desk and repurposed bookshelves.

IntraSpace worked closely with staff and building contractors to capture the school’s vision of a collaborative learning space.

A Modern Twist

IntraSpace gave the library a contemporary boost with modern furniture.

The space was enhanced with laminate bookshelves, Otto Cubes, polypropylene chairs and a reading mat. The burst of colour truly livened up the space – creating a relaxing environment for students to read and play.

The IntraSpace crew supplied a series of laminate Wave Shelf Modules. These library furniture solutions joined to create the illusion of a long, sprawling display. It formed a natural boundary for the reading space and reduced the walking distance for students to grab their favourite books.

Re-purposed Shelving

Flinders College had an existing range of library shelving still in good condition.

The IntraSpace crew repurposed these shelves to store various books away from the main area. Custom end panels were also installed onto these displays to showcase the latest books.

New Reception Area

As part of the new library furniture solutions, the staff were supplied with a U-shaped circulation desk. The desk had child-proof bevelled edges and plenty of cupboard space to store office supplies.

The relocated reception made it easier for teachers to monitor the loan and returning of books.

The installation of the IntraSpace storage system in our redeveloped Emergency Department has been a very positive process. The modular system has improved workflow and we are now reviewing our work practices to capture the efficiencies with improved outcomes. Compliance to Infection Control for both Storage and Handling of Sterile stock and the Victorian Cleaning Standards is being met with decreased resources and man hours due to the efficiencies the system provides.
