My storeroom is old, non-compliant and out of space
Many healthcare facilities have been going a long time and storage areas get neglected and overloaded.
Built in joinery is no longer adequate to hold the required stock and old laminate benches and plastic tubs are no longer compliant.
AS5369 requires all sterile stock to be stored safely in non-porous and non-solid baskets or shelving allowing for airflow and mesh based containers.
Workflow within rooms change and the volume, quantity and nature of stock changes over time and a lot of storage areas become messy when there is no structured storage solution.

My baskets holding my stock are either solid bottomed or the mesh is too large that my stock is falling out.
IntraSpace has calls from clients where they are wanting to replace their plastic maxi bins with wire baskets. That is fairly straightforward when we just changing over like for like and they are hanging back on wall panels.
However we also get calls from client for these 2 reasons as well;
- I have bought new wire baskets but the mesh is too large so my stock is falling through the holes and becoming compromised and unusable. IntraMed wire baskets available in chrome and stainless steel finish have the smallest mesh on the market at 8mm x 8mm and don’t have this problem. If you buy ours first you save yourself money
- New healthcare facilities often have the joinery or builder install kitchen style baskets into clinical areas.These are obviously a bit cheaper maybe and are just what people have used before. IntraSpace gets the call very often just after the users move into a new fitout to ask if we can come and remove the baskets and install IntraMed Clinical Baskets. These have smaller mesh as well as a divider system (which the others don’t have) and they allow stock to be stored well and neatly.

The installation of the IntraSpace storage system in our redeveloped Emergency Department has been a very positive process. The modular system has improved workflow and we are now reviewing our work practices to capture the efficiencies with improved outcomes. Compliance to Infection Control for both Storage and Handling of Sterile stock and the Victorian Cleaning Standards is being met with decreased resources and man hours due to the efficiencies the system provides.

We would like to thank IntraSpace for the high quality fitout of our Health Information Department. Now that we have additional capacity in the new shelving, it is not necessary to cull as often. Our mobile shelving unit is an important storage solution for the school. It is a high quality, attractive, aesthetically pleasing as well as functional. The unit has a lot of capacity – while taking up minimal space. IntraSpace provided good after sales service, we are pleased with it.
