The Health Facilities Design & Development Summit

The Health Facilities Design & Development Summit premiered on 15–16 October at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, unveiling a fully refreshed format tailored to the sector’s most pressing infrastructure challenges. Over two days, more than 100 senior leaders and 50 expert speakers convened to exchange insights, explore emerging solutions, and advance major capital projects across Australia’s health system.

Attendees engaged across three dedicated content streams and more than 20 hours of programming, benefiting from a blend of public, private, and governmental perspectives. The agenda was tightly focused on real-world design and development imperatives, from navigating complex planning environments to delivering facilities that support contemporary models of care.

This year’s event showcased a significantly renewed speaker line-up, with 70 percent of contributors new to the program. Notable voices included Clayton Smith, Senior Vice President of Facilities Management for Children’s Health System of Texas, and Adam Walczak, Director of Innovation for Hunter New England Local Health District. Two newly introduced streams—mental health facility development and precinct development—added depth to the conversation and reflected evolving priorities in health infrastructure delivery.

The move to a premium venue supported high-quality networking and substantive discussions, reinforced by expanded interactive formats. Roundtables, interactive discussion groups, speed networking, digital polling and Q&A, and a post-event drinks reception all helped attendees connect, compare experiences, and build new partnerships.

Overall, the Summit provided a concentrated forum for problem-solving, knowledge sharing, and strategic alignment—delivering the ideas, conversations, and relationships that are shaping the next generation of health facilities.

We have achieved increased storage capacity (70%) within the confines of our existing storage area

The installation of the IntraSpace storage system in our redeveloped Emergency Department has been a very positive process. The modular system has improved workflow and we are now reviewing our work practices to capture the efficiencies with improved outcomes. Compliance to Infection Control for both Storage and Handling of Sterile stock and the Victorian Cleaning Standards is being met with decreased resources and man hours due to the efficiencies the system provides.

The team from IntraSpace assisted us with clear storage options, accurate quotes and met all time lines during our redevelopment project. They are a very professional company to work with I would recommend them to any Healthcare facility looking to upgrade storage systems.

Hopefully as we start to move through the rest of the hospital with review of storage of stock we will have the opportunity to work with you redesigning our remaining clinical store rooms.
